Randy Travis, Merle Haggard Lead ACM Honorees

Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center was crawling with star power Tuesday night as the Academy of Country Music celebrated Randy Travis, Hank Williams Jr., Merle Haggard and Dolly Parton among others in its second annual ACM Honors.

Rodney Atkins Relishes Mustard Seed Fundraiser

“It ain’t always pretty/But it’s real.”

That statement about small-town life from Rodney Atkins’ “These Are My People” hit home for Rodney, and he’s going back home to the town where he went to college — Cookeville, Tenn. — for These Are My People, This Is My Town, a charity event he hopes to replicate in years to come.

Rodney and Phil Vassar are set to play the Hooper Eblen Center Oct. 8, with proceeds benefiting Tennessee Tech University Athletics and the Mustard Seed Ranch, a faith-based children’s agency. Continue Reading

Inauguration News: Faith Hill, Garth Brooks, Sugarland

With Barack Obama’s inauguration less than a week away, Faith Hill, Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus are among the country stars who’ve been added to official Washington, D.C., lineups that celebrate the incoming president.

And while Lee Greenwood, a longtime friend of the Bush family, hasn’t been named to appear at any of the events, there’s strong evidence that his 25-year-old flag-waver “God Bless The U.S.A.” will get an urban renewal during at least one of the ceremonies. Continue Reading
