Blake Shelton has released a new music video for his latest single, “Neon Light.” The video captures the highlights of Shelton’s energetic live shows, as well as the fun that fans have in the parking lot, while he performs the song. The track can be found on his upcoming album, Bringing Back the Sunshine, set for release on September 30.

“My last couple of albums have been so positive, because when I made them I was just getting married,” Shelton said. “It’s been in this awesome place. But after a while, as a country singer, I gotta get back to singing about getting drunk because there’s people out there — and I’ve been one of them — that have had their heart broken, or they’ve had a tough day at work, or they get stabbed in the back.”

Tim McGraw Releases Sundown Heaven Town

Tim McGraw Releases Sundown Heaven Town Album

Tim McGraw makes it no secret that he is influenced by a number of musical genres and even musical decades. The ’70s, in particular, have inspired him throughout his career. Fans may not hear those influences on his new album, Sundown Heaven Town, however, as McGraw says it’s the “most country” album he has recorded in a while.

“It’s a country album because I’m singing it, but if you want to say, ‘Is it a traditional country? …’ It’s not a traditional country album, but I think it’s very encompassing of everything that I’ve done in my career,” he said. “I think it’s a good microcosm of what my 20 years in music has been in a lot of ways, so I think that you can certainly hear parts of my career through all these songs.” Continue Reading

Luke Bryan is bringing a few friends along on his sixth annual Farm Tour. Cole Swindell, The Peach Pickers – songwriters Dallas Davidson, Rhett Akins and Ben HayslipChancie Neal, and DJ Rockhave been announced as special guests on the tour when it kicks off October 1 in Knoxville. Proceeds will go to scholarships for students from farming families in the community, which means the annual shows are about more than bringing Bryan’s live show to farm towns.

“Farm Tour is just fun to me, and it’s something that anytime you can start something that starts small and grow it,” Bryan said. “We never want to make it this really ginormous thing that we can’t control, but we want to make sure it’s on our terms and we love doing it. And then we want to make sure that the communities that we partner up with, from the sheriff’s office to the highway patrol guys to the colleges to the college kids, we want to make sure it’s a positive thing at the end of the day for the communities.” Continue Reading

Krystal Keith in the Kitchen: Grilled Balsamic Chicken

krystal-keith-grilled-balsamic-chicken-recipe

I spent a month backpacking Europe after I graduated from college, and in a little shop in Paris, I found the most amazing well-aged balsamic vinegar. I had never really been much of a fan of balsamic, but this was aged to the point where the tart vinegar flavor had turned into a sweet, almost honey-infused flavor. I bought a bottle to bring home, and since that moment, balsamic and I have had quite the love story! This is one of my favorite recipes to use that balsamic on, and I hope you enjoy it as much as my family and I love it.

Great American Country Visits American Field

It’s no secret that we support American-made products here at Great American Country, so attending the American Field pop-up exhibition and market in Boston was a dream come true. American Field celebrates craftspeople from all over the U.S. who create American-made goods such as clothing, furniture or accessories. Plenty of food and drink vendors attend, as well as American-made enthusiasts, like Great American Country and Ellen Foord.

Foord contributes to our sister site’s blog, DIY’s Made + Remade. She also runs a personal blog, Minnow + Co., and was lucky enough to attend American Field and write about her experience to share with the rest of us! Among some of Foord’s favorite American-made items were Grillo’s Pickles, a floral button-down from Stock Manufacturing Co., sustainably designed furniture from Structure Design & Build and, of course, 100 percent cotton T-shirts from Great American Country’s upcoming new series, Horses Cut Shop, slated for 2015. See the rest of her picks on Made + Remade!

New Series Horses Cut Shop Slated for 2015 on Great American Country

Gabe Johnson owns Horses Cut Shop, a Seattle based T-shirt company creating one-of-a-kind shirts based off of small businesses sprinkled throughout America. In Great American Country’s newest yet-to-be-titled original series, Johnson travels the U.S. looking for small towns with small, struggling businesses and untold stories. What he learns on his adventures inspire his T-shirt designs that he sells in department stores across the country. Gabe then gives back some of the profits to the businesses featured on the shirts.

“I find a business that means the most to that town. I get to know those owners, and I work with them to take their identity that they’ve nurtured and built, and I put it on an American-made T-shirt,” said Gabe. “I expose their story to the world, I put money back in their pocket, and I promote them. It’s my job to find them and tell their story. I’m discovering America – one T-shirt at a time.”

Stay tuned for premiere dates and the latest developments on GreatAmericanCountry.com!

The album was recorded during Strait’s final show on his last tour and features special guests Eric Church, Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, Jason Aldean, Ray Benson, Kenny Chesney, Sheryl Crow, Faith Hill, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride and Asleep at the Wheel’s Ray Benson.

Eric Church was on hand both at the final show in Dallas and as an opener several times throughout the show. Strait was impressed with how Church worked the crowd.

“Eric Church is just a great artist,” Strait said. “He’s a really great performer and great songwriter. He’s got the total package. When we did our shows together during the tour he came out and, well, he said I’m not going to bring my band. I’m just going to do a set just me and my guitar. Continue Reading
