Kellie Pickler loves the idea of getting married, though she’s not so hot about the concept of wedding in the near future.
Anyone who saw her on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” when she battled an 18-degree temperature and frigid wind gusts in Times Square, knows Kellie is willing to step up to the plate for her career in the public eye. But she also recognizes the commitment to her work would likely put an unfair strain on a marriage.
“I’ve met someone now that I’m crazy about and he’s crazy about me, and I couldn’t imagine being with anyone else,” she told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. “But there’s a sense of reality where you have to be a realist and think, this is something that you’re gonna make a vow to spend the rest of your life with this person and your priorities are gonna change. Right now, I’m in the point of my life where I want my career to be No. 1. I’m not ready — I’m 22, I just started out — I’m not ready to put my husband first. [I’ll wait until] I’m to a point into my career where I can say, ‘This can come in second and I’m ready to have a family.’”
For now, Kellie remains officially dating. And she’ll be paired off later this year professionally with Taylor Swift. The two pals expect to tour together. Taylor also co-wrote Kellie’s current single, “Best Days Of Your Life.”
