Chuck Wicks’ performance during last week’s edition of “Dancing With The Stars” had him ending a Viennese waltz on one knee in front of dance partner and girlfriend Julianne Hough, and it sparked a new round of questions about whether the couple might get engaged.

“Dancing” co-host Samantha Harris, in fact, started the speculation during the show when she immediately asked if Chuck was preparing to share some news with the audience, and it’s been a regular topic on commentaries about the ABC series.

“I didn’t really think people would think about the end of the dance as an engagement,” Chuck told The Wilmington News Journal. “It was an I-love-you sentiment. Of course, Julianne and I have a great relationship, and that’s always the next step. It’s fun to watch people’s minds kind of wonder. It’ll all work out in the end, and they won’t have to wonder anymore I guess.”

Which only begs more questions. Chuck remains coy about a proposal.

“We have a great, great relationship,” he told TVGuide.com. “We definitely talk about it. It’s definitely in the future. It’s one of those things where it’s supposed to be a surprise! I’ll tell you this: I’m not going to do it on the show, but it’s not like we don’t talk about it or think about it or we don’t know that that’s the next step. All in due time. Right now, we love where we are, and we definitely want to grow from where we are.”

Last week’s Viennese waltz was performed to Rascal Flatts’ “Feels Like Today.” This week, the band will guest on the Tuesday edition of “DWTS.”
