Looks like Shania Twain is going to help fill the shoes left empty by Paula Abdul on American Idol. Well at least for a couple days anyway. People.com is reporting that Shania has committed to sit in as a celebrity guest judge during the auditions being held in Chicago on August 30 and 31. Other celebrities signed on to guest judge include R&B superstar Mary J. Blige, former Spice Girl Victoria “Posh” Beckham and pop star Katy Perry.

And by the way, it looks like Shania Twain has some other surprises coming this month. We just checked Shania’s official website and found the following message:

“Shania’s giving you a present on her birthday! Join us on August 28 for the excitement!”

Still no confirmation on when we can expect new music from Shania, but it looks like best case scenario will be sometime next year. Shania hasn’t released an album of new material since 2002’s “Up!”
