Following in the footsteps of Barbara Mandrell and Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood will headline her own variety television special on December 7, 2009. The still-untitled, two-hour show will air on FOX at 8 p.m. Eastern.

Fans will most likely hear Carrie’s latest hit single, “Cowboy Casanova” and other new music from her upcoming album, Play On, as well as previous hits and holiday classics. Her special guests include Dolly, Brad Paisley and David Cook, with additional guest stars to be announced.

  1. So excited to have Carrie on for two hours……………….maybe lengthen it to 3 or 4…….But, Please NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Taylor Swift……….Sick of her……….She cannot carry a tune……..Pickler may be great some day……….at least she’s funny……………
But Carrie Underwood is a natural singer with gorgeous looks………….Just a classy act all-around………..I love that she follows Barbara Mandrell and Dolly Parton…………two more classy acts that can sing and entertain…………….
You go Carrie………You deserve it all…………

  2. I can not wait for the Carrie special. She4 is a great talent of pretty much anything she touches turn gold and better. I think that with brad and Dolly and David cook this will be a holiday special to remember for all time. Carrie is the best best of today and Dolly the best of yesterday. and brad and Carrie are best friends I think it will be one special everyone will enjoy without ts and kp .

  4. I think the line up is fine as is. That way Carrie has more airtime ;) I doubt Kellie and Taylor have any hateful feelings towards Carrie. Anything you "think" they feel is probably just due to fan-based comparisons. Nobody really knows… Just be thankful that Carrie has been given this opportunity and that we all get to enjoy it.

  5. I can't wait for this show! Love Carrie!

BUT NO TAYLOR SWIFT IS ALLOWED! She will make it ALL about her as she is so arrogant and such an attention hound!

Plus, Taylor cannot even sing on key live, so she will drag Carrie down!

I am excited for Dolly and Brad though. Hopefully, Miranda will appear too, and some other mainstream acts. David Cook is awesome too.

  8. Kellie Pickler is a natural for this. Her radio and talk show interviews are HILARIOUS.

    • I dont think so she is no friend
      of carrie

      barbara b on November 10, 2009 at 4:58 pm
      • Kellie and Taylor are better friends to Carrie than you and the other people that constantly attack other artists and their fans on these and other sites.

    • I agreeimack, I too find Kellie to be a natural at humor. I saw an interview she did awhile back with Suzanne and had tears rolling I was laughng so hard- Suzanne remarked she would have to wear waterproof mascara next time. I would LOVE to see Kellie do a talk show. Ar you listening GAC???

  14. I agree with the person that said they would like Celine Dion on the show. Me too!! Did you know that Celine was on a talent show also? Please not too many AI alumni and definately not TS. Mix it up with artists from all genres—make it interesting and fun–isn't that what a variety show is. By the way Carrie does write and she does play instruments–along with having a great voice–and she does NOT remix her songs. She is the BEST female VOCALIST to hit Nashville for a long time and I think the female vocalist award should go to one who can sing!!!

    TY83 on October 14, 2009 at 9:52 pm
  15. NO! NO! I want this to be a Carrie Underwood show- no taylor or kellie. One idol alum is enough. I would love to see Celine Dion on there- that is my dream. Two of the best ballad vocalist. There is something about Carrie that reminds me of Celine.Celine is so classy and down to earth.I think everybody on the show should either be a legend or an amazing vocalist ilke Carrie. Not a bunch a tweenies.I'm so sick of that already.Go Carrie!

Truth on October 14, 2009 at 8:07 pm
    • They didn't say anything about Taylor. Tee we already know you don't want to see Kellie or "your friend from Pennsylvania" haha because you're a hater so save it.

  16. I am so very proud of Carrie. She has so…..much class and I think she will draw a great audience for this show that is airing on Fox. I bet the ratings will be very high. I love Brad, Dolly and David so this should be a very entertaining show.
Carrie, is just one of a kind. She has the most beautiful voice there ever was. She is gracious, beautiful and her vocal range cannot be surpassed by anyone at this moment……

  17. Carrie is the right choice to headline a Christmas Special…she is one classy lady and great talent to match…can't wait. I hope we see some of the greats from yester- year, like Barbabra Mandrell and the Judds…would be great! I hope it's not like some of the recent ones that aired.

  24. Great to hear Carrie will be headlining her own special. I read in addition to Dolly, Brad and David there will be other artists (all genre) , Carrie's hits, songs from her new album, christmas songs and comedy skits. Should be a very entertaining show and I definately will be watching it. I am proud of Carrie that she does NOT remix her songs for pop and stays true to country. She is a classy lady.
