Tim McGraw releases his new Southern Voice album Tuesday, and in gearing up for the street date, he’ll appear this weekend with host Nan Kelley on GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown.

The album’s first single, “It’s A Business Doing Pleasure With You,” was written in part by Chad Kroeger of the rock band Nickelback, and his current hit, “Southern Voice,” namechecks such rockers as Chuck Berry, Tom Petty, Jerry Lee Lewis and the Allman Brothers. In fact, Gregg Allman will sit in with Tim when he performs “Southern Voice” on “The Jay Leno Show” Oct. 27.

Tim has more than just an album and TV appearances up his sleeve. His next movie, The Blind Side, reaches theaters Nov. 20, and he kicks off his Southern Voice Tour Feb. 11 in Omaha. Lady Antebellum will open the entire run, which stretches through Aug. 15 in Virginia Beach. The Lost Trailers will take the lineup’s third slot through April 10. Beginning the following day, Love And Theft will take over that role and keep it the rest of the way.

Top 20 Country Countdown counts down the week’s top country videos from No. 20 to No. 1 as voted by viewers on each week on GACTV.com. A new countdown premieres every Friday at 8 p.m. ET on GAC and airs again Saturdays at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. ET; Sundays at 1 p.m. ET; and Mondays at 10 a.m. ET. Viewers can vote for their favorite videos, as well as purchase Top 20 artists’ albums and ringtones at GACTV.com.

  2. I'd say if Tim Mc Graw want's to do something else as well as his singing, then leave the man be. Not eveyone keeps to one thing in life, did you? Nah , didn't think so. I love his music no matter what. He has done one heck of a job on his music to leave him alone.

  3. "I'm Only Jesus" is one of the greatest songs I've heard in awhile. Tim rocks!!! I got to see him in NYC at Ed Sullivan theater, OMG, the man can sing! and he's sooooooo good looking. Him and Faith make a great couple!!

  7. I think Southern Voice is Tim's best album yet. Your right Janet, its mature, its real, and its country. All about life, the good, the bad, and the ugly! I love the down home feel the video has.

  8. Tim is more relaxed now. He's kinda like Garth, living with his family and doing what he does best-sing. But he also likes to act too and LA is where you go to act. His girls go to school there. I say more music row/nashville has forgotten him and he doesn't want to play that game anymore. He figures he'll never get nominated for single, album or male vocalist of the year anymore, so he's living his life his way. I'm not saying that I believe he shouldn't get those honors, I'm just saying..when was the last time you have seen him nominated?

  9. The song Nan said she loved and made her cry on today's show from Tim's album.

    I'm Only Jesus

    Bobby's got a duster '79
bottle of Jack and a 45
    points it at his head
    and he starts to cry,
to proud to ask me to save his life

    Billy's in a limo
    on the upper east side
    playing Russian Roulette
    with the long white line
his wife gets a call at 3 am
saying billy aint never coming home again

    She asks me why?

    And I said,
    I sure wish you'd believe
    that everybody's free
and I'll help you if you ask me to,
I gave every star a name
    the sunshine and the rain
but i can't decide the road you choose
    that's up to you
    I'm only Jesus

    Johnny had a good job
    rackin' it in
    cavier parties
with his well to do friends
    something was missing
    from his perfect little life
    he through in the towel
and he called me one night

    Betty was an orphan
    like so many kids
    they taught her in school
    that i didn't exist
she had every reason not to talk to me
    but every night before bed
she got down on her knees
    just to tell me hi

    And I said,
    I'm sure glad you believe
    cause everybody's free
and I'll help you if you ask me to,
I gave every star a name
the sun shine and the rain
but I can't decide the road you choose
    that's up to you
    I'm only Jesus

Hey your all the same to me
    Everybody's free
and I'll help you if you ask me to,
I gave every star a name
the sun shine and the rain
but I can't decide the road you choose
    that's up to you
    I'm only Jesus

    I'm only Jesus
    I'm Only Jesus

Gotta have Jesus to see the light
Gotta have Jesus to hold you tight
Gotta have Jesus to talk to me
I gotta have Jesus to set me free

  10. Some songs are meant to be shared and heard

    Love You Goodbye

    Love you Goodbye

He was thinking back when he was a kid
    His folks were divorced
His old man high on something
    Came knocking at the door
His mama wouldn't talk to him
She said boy dontcha let him in

She was cussing and pacing and wasting her life
    On that linoleum floor
Took him back to his old apartment
    Turned off the TV
His beautiful broken hero on the couch
    Passed out asleep
And he put 'em to bed
    With tears in his eyes
He said dad I love you, Goodbye

He headed out into the night
    Seventeen years old
Fired up that rusty old pickup
Turned his collar to the cold
And he headed back to mama's place
    Ready for his big escape
And he tiptoed up the stairs and left a note
    In the cover's fold

It said mom I wish I could wave a wand
    And make you smile again
Bring back the man who stole your heart
'fore the demons got to him
If I stay here any longer
    Something sacred gonna die
He said mom I love you, Goodbye

Took a lot of wrong turns on the road
    Finding his life
By the grace of God he ended up
With a little boy and a wife
And the phone call came from his sister
    Was that old familiar pain
His mother was at the doorstep
    Of heaven's pure white light

At the end of the service
His father came up to him
Clear eyed and sober now he said
    Boy, Jesus took my sins
And I pray someday maybe you'll forgive me too
    With tears in his eyes
He said son I love you, Goodbye

His plane touched down in Texas
    He pulled out his phone
Dialed in the number, got the machine
    Of his old man's home
He said dad we got an extra room
And your grandson has your eyes
    Couldn't say anything else
    Cause he started to cry
And he choked out dad I love you, Goodbye

    Dad I love you, Goodbye

  11. Tim's new album is outstanding, an Nan was right, I'm only Jesus will floor you but then again so many of the songs on the album are stories that represent life, all of life. From the good, bad, hurting, loving and forgiving. This is a mature album for mature listeners and has everything great that a country album should have, an amazing collection of stories sung with so much heart from Tim.

Love You Goodbye is the most powerful song about life, family, addiction, hurt, love and forgiving I've ever heard. Even if you have no desire to buy or hear a Tim McGraw album, find a way to LISTEN to this song. There are some songs that are meant to be heard and this is one. I cried like a baby when I heard this but came away appreciating my family even more.

  13. If you don't like the song fine that's your choice. But let's grow up and be adults with no name calling. Otherwise you can't go out for recess.
As for me, Go Carrie Go!
