Carrie Underwood’s third album hits the streets on Tuesday, and she’s already made a huge impact with the first single, “Cowboy Casanova,” which debuted this past weekend at No. 1 on GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown.
“Casanova” is a boisterous, big-sounding song, but it’s just one part of Play On, which still packs plenty of different tempos and energy levels, as did her first two albums.
“Play On has something in it for everyone,” she says. “I have been lucky enough to have very versatile singles and songs on my albums, and I think this is definitely an extension of that. And I think people can enjoy my writing more and things that, you know, are truly coming from my heart more. So I hope we just take everything and just take it to a new level and give something that everybody can enjoy.”
The album is just the start of things for Carrie. She’s featured Thursday on GAC’s Headline Country, and joins Brad Paisley Nov. 11 as the co-host of the 43rd annual Country Music Association Awards, where she might be named Female Vocalist of the Year for the fourth time in a row. She’s also a nominee on the Nov. 22 American Music Awards and will host her first FOX-TV special Dec. 7.
