Anne Murray Recalls Co-Hosting CMAs With Willie Nelson

Before Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, before Vince Gill, before Reba McEntire — there was a long line of equally-talented CMA Awards Show hosts. In 1983, Anne Murray co-hosted with Willie Nelson. Watch our exclusive interview with Anne, as she recalls the question she asked Willie just before going onstage.

The 43rd Annual CMA Awards show hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley airs on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.   Check out GAC’s CMA Awards Show section for complete coverage, photos, videos, trivia and a downloadable ballot.

  2. Anne Murray was one of best singers of her generation, and she probably should have won more CMA awards. Her voice was pure and smooth, and she was always in key.
She may have been looked over because she was not pure country; she was also a pop singer. Despite not winning many CMA awards. she did win a total of 4 Grammy awards, and I believe that 3 of them were in the country music category.
