The dust has barely settled here in Nashville from last week’s 43rd Annual CMA Awards Show and here we go again, sort of…
The 2009 American Music Awards will air this Sunday, November 22 at 8 p.m. CT on ABC LIVE from the NOKIA Theatre in L.A. The AMA’s honor artists in the categories of Pop/Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Alternative, Adult Contemporary, Latin and Contemporary Inspirational. For the third year in a row, the winners are determined by fan voting. Voting has already closed for all the major categories with the exception of the “Breakthrough Artist Award.” Fans that want to show their love of country can vote for Gloriana in this category all the way up until show time.
Both Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban are slated to perform during the show which will also feature marquee performances by artists like Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Jay-Z, Daughtry, Green Day and more.

I am tired of CMA overlooking Keith Urban!! He has not won or even presented at the CMA awards!! But guess what…he won peoples choice award for best male entertainer. Thus I conclude, we all like him the best..us everyday joe…so why does CMA give everything to Brad Paisley?

THOUGH I WAS HAPPY TO SEE RASCAL FLATTS AND KEITH URBAN WIN THEIR AWARDS!! AT LEAST THEY HAVE TALENT AND CAN SING ON KEY!!! CARRIE'S PERFORMANCE TONIGHT WAS FLAWLESS !!!

The most overated singer in music today wins every award again. These award shows are getting worse every time.
Taylor won favorite female pop artist and favorite adult contemporary artist so that proves over half of her fans are pop. At least the AMAs got it right. CMAs didn't because they gave country awards for selling out to pop and best vocalist to the worst singer.
I have been watching the AMA and since they are fan voted,I am not surprised that Taylor has won female pop and country.It really is sad that someone that can not sing on key is winning all these awards.We all know that the CMA’s let outside situations away their votes and I know I do not have to list those situations.I actually thought you had to be able to sing and perform in order to win awards,well guess what you don’t,Taylor has proven that.
I agree with everyone – Keith Urban deserves to win! He is the best Entertainer and his concerts are awesome! The CMA's were "rigged" and were full of a bunch of crap! Everyone who is a true country fan would agree that Keith should have won Entertainer of the Year award!!! I wish the CMA board of members would look at the talent and not the "money" issue – Taylor is too young to win all of the awards she won at the CMA's. Keith Urban is the absolute best country singer, songwriter, guitar player and performer! Good Luck Keith!! I voted for you!
I am going for Keith! If he doesn't win I will have an issue! He has worked his butt of this past year and he deserves to be recognized for it! I agee with "frustrated" if you have not seen keith and concert you have too! Once you have you will agree he deserves every award he is nominated for!
For female I want Carrie. Her new album is amazing! Band should easily go to Rascal Flatts although if Sugarland wins I will be fine with that to.
Keith Urban is one heck of an entertainer and does deserve a lot of the awards for which he receives nominations. I think that there's a 'Keith has everything; let's give the award to someone else' sentiment when it comes to the actual voting. It's a shame because he is deserving and should be up there accepting an award or two. Should anyone doubt this, see him in concert.
I hope Carrie and Keith are the winners!-They both have a huge number of fans, Taylor seems to be on a roll-and she has fans in both country and rock.I was disappointed Carrie did not get the CMA FVA, but she was a bit out of the spotlight to work on her CD and entertain the troops,provide all new musical instruments for her hometown school, and do a special 'pink concert at the Opry for breast cancer awareness, and she and Brad hosted the awards.So, at the same time Taylor(who I like) was given the award after her terrible vocal performance, Carrie had the # 1 single, #1 album & # 1 video for multiple weeks on GAC &CMT. Makes me feel a little better!!
Carrie Underwood will take it and Keith Urban for male country artist. Taylor for pop artist.
The names are in red the first time they are mentioned in this article. The next time they are mentioned, they are blackened out like the rest of the words. The red lettering does not signify any votes, etc. I hope this helps!
If the red is for a tie between Jason and Darius I definately would like to know who is doing the voting. Keith should by far be in the lead in that category. I can't beleive that Defying Gravity is not nominated for album of the year either. Very very disgruntled.
I wondered that myself. I don't understand how keith or carrie was left out. I have become a little disgruntled with the awards as of late. I can't figure out what these judges or whoever does the voteing could possibly be thinking.
What how come you have some artists red lettered and other Country Artists not? At least the noms for Pop /Rock have Taylor in them where she belongs.But you completely missed real Country Artists.Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban.
