If you’re in the market for a bodyguard with a killer voice, Trace Adkins is your man. Trace has just been cast in Tough Trade, the first original pilot series on EPIX. In the series, Trace will place a guy named “Scared,” a friend and bodyguard to Sam Shepard’s character, Linwood Tucker. According to a press release, Scared is “fiercely loyal to the Tucker family. He follows his own code of honor and is both respected and feared throughout Nashville.”

Tough Trade is a one-hour drama about a scandalous, three-generation Nashville music dynasty with shaky morals, on the verge of bankruptcy. There an “A-Team” of creatives behind it: It’s executive produced by Jenji Kohan (Weeds); the pilot was written by creator/co-executive producer Chris Offutt (True Blood, Weeds); it’s directed by Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Rendition, Tsotsi); and Grammy winner and Oscar-nominated producer, musician and songwriter, T Bone Burnett (of O Brother, Where Art Thou? fame), is the executive musical producer and an executive producer of the show.

Shooting began this week in Nashville, Tennessee.  No word on if Trace’s “Scared” will be singing…but one can only hope!
