Chris Young and Craig Morgan visited another part of the world; Wynonna took a trip through Appalachia. GAC was there when all three artists extended a helping hand, and the results show up on TV this week in a pair of specials, Stars For Stripes: Wounded Warriors Return and GAC Aboard The Santa Train.
Hosted by Nan Kelley, Stars For Stripes follows Craig and Chris overseas as the singers spent a week performing for U.S. soldiers serving in Kuwait, Iraq and Germany. The singers were joined by a pair of servicemen who suffered debilitating injuries during tenures in the Middle East, and the tour included a precedent-setting concert at the American embassy in Baghdad — the first time Iraqi citizens were able to attend a concert by artists from the United States.
“It was just one of the most amazing and humbling things I have ever had the opportunity to do,” Chris says. “I’m 24 years old, and there are a lot of people my age who are just coming over here for the first time and in a much different capacity.”
Stars For Stripes: Wounded Warriors Return premieres at 9:30 p.m. ET Thursday.
Wynonna rode the Santa Train Nov. 21 with Kris Kringle, boarding in Pikeville, Ky., and ending the trip in Kingsport, Tenn., after delivering 15 tons of food and gifts to needy children and families in the Appalachian Mountains. The train made 14 stops in three states with GAC’s Suzanne Alexander there to capture all the holiday atmosphere.
GAC Aboard The Santa Train debuts at 9 p.m. ET Saturday.
