Kellie Pickler’s featured in this month’s issue of Shape magazine on the “Healthy Hollywood” page, where she shares her health and fitness secrets, including becoming a vegetarian. “About a year and a half ago, I cleaned up my diet, becoming a vegetarian and replacing the junk I was eating with whole foods, like raw veggies, nuts, and edamame,” she says. “My energy shot way up! When I’m away from home, I stop by a grocery store to stock up on healthy snacks instead of hitting a drive-through.”
Kellie also stays on top of her mental health. ”I have to make sure I let loose with my girlfriends every now and then—even when I’m on tour,” says Kellie. “I always get to know the other girls who are traveling with me. Surrounding myself with people who inspire me helps me to be a happier, more confident person.”
She also indulges in one of her favorite pastimes – reading. “Reading helps me relax, but I don’t want to lug a whole bunch of heavy books around with me, so I bought a Kindle ($259; amazon.com). As soon as I’m done with one novel, I can download the next! I just started The Lovely Bones, by Alice Sebold, and hope to finish it before the movie comes out this month.”
