Since he’s already featured such musicians as Dolly Parton, Keith Urban, George Jones and Little Jimmy Dickens on his albums, it’s pretty evident that Brad Paisley’s gotten a good reputation among other country artists.
It’s not just because he’s a great songwriter and guitarist — which he is. It’s also because he’s a big supporter of his fellow acts.
Jason Michael Carroll, for example, opened for Brad at a club in Raleigh, N.C., more than 10 years ago. Brad reached out to the young singer and has continued to do so ever since.
“He invited me up on his bus and asked me how I’d been, how everything was goin’, and he really appreciated me openin’ up for him that night,” Jason recalls. “And every time he came into town after that, I would get an invite to come up on his bus and sit with him for a second. And I tell you what, I’ll never forget that, as nice as he was to me. And to be labelmates with Brad Paisley now… it’s just amazing to me to see the way that our fates and everything have kind of intertwined. You get in to meet these people and then wind up workin’ with ‘em.”
When Darius Rucker recorded his first country album, Learn To Live, Brad was one of the artists who made a guest appearance on it, along with Alison Krauss and Vince Gill. But Brad didn’t just show up at the studio and leave. He helped set the tone for Darius’ introduction into the genre.
“I’d be in Nashville after I finished the record — a couple months before it came out — and I’d have people walk up to me and say, ‘Hey, I was just talking with Brad Paisley and he said this record is going to be awesome,’” Darius told The Toledo Blade. “That was amazing to me and pretty cool that people were that supportive.”
Two other acts have become a part of Brad’s artistic family. Miranda Lambert and Justin Moore are the opening acts on the current leg of his American Saturday Night Tour.
