“I had a whole plan mapped out for myself when I signed with Lyric Street Records in 2005,” says Sarah Buxton in her biography. “But, what’s the old adage? ‘If you want to hear God laugh, tell Him your plans?’ Yeah, well, I told Him. My plans were to IMMEDIATELY release my first record and have it go platinum with one hit after another.”
Five years later, Sarah’s debut CD will finally be in stores — on Tuesday, Feb. 23. But at least she’s been doing some very cool things while she’s been waiting. That was Sarah singing on the Dierks Bentley hit, “Sweet & Wild.” She also harmonized with Martina McBride on the song “Sunny Side Up” and with Kenny Rogers on “Someone Somewhere Tonight.”
At the 2008 ACM Awards, Keith Urban asked Sarah to join him for his performance of ”Tu Compania.” “Yes, that was me beat boxing with him,” she says. Two years earlier, Keith had paid Sarah the ultimate compliment as a songwriter when he recorded her song, “Stupid Boy.”
GAC is helping Sarah celebrate the release of her debut CD with a concert special, Premiere: Sarah Buxton, premiering Saturday, Feb. 20 at 10 p.m. ET. In the show, Sarah talks about the creative process of songwriting and shares the intimate stories behind her music.
