Brooks & Dunn took the stage in front of a packed house full of  industry professionals attending the 2010 Country Radio Seminar and announced their final concert together would be held August 10, 2010 in Nashville, Tenn. Details are still to come but we know that the proceeds from what will surely be a star-studded event are going to benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

In addition to this major Brooks & Dunn announcement, the luncheon event sponsored by Sony Music Entertainment, also featured some incredible performances by opening act Danny Gokey and the headliner of the show, Alan Jackson.

This was the first time I have personally seen Danny Gokey perform and he did not disappoint.  He looked like a seasoned veteran — and why wouldn’t he after an American Idol run that put him in front of millions of viewers every week.  Danny opened with his current single “My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me” and closed out with a powerful performance of “I Will Not Say Goodbye.”  Danny’s debut album, My Best Days, is set for release on March 2, 2010.

Alan Jackson took the stage next and performed what seemed like a full concert set, treating the capacity crowd to a cross section of his biggest hits. Alan took requests from the floor and thanked the country radio crowd for helping him have such a successful 20-year career, with more to come. My favorite moment was Jackson’s spotlight performance of “Remember When.”  But a good dose of “Chattahoochee” and “It’s Five O’ Clock Somewhere” put us all in a partying mood. Alan’s new album, Freight Train, is set for release on March 30, 2010.
