Gary Allan Brings Live Concert to GAC

“On stage you get instant gratification,” multi-platinum country star Gary Allan says in Gary Allan:  Live From the House of Blues,  premiering Saturday, March 6, 10:00 p.m. ET on Great American Country.  “If you’re good you get instant reaction, if you’re bad, you get instant reaction.  There are no do-overs, that’s why I like it.”

Hitmaker Allan and his band rip through an energetic set in front of a soldout Chicago House of Blues crowd.  Performances are interspersed with rare, candid conversational moments with the singer who shares the inspiration behind many of his hits.  “I went through a period (after his wife’s death) where I couldn’t really write, couldn’t really think.  ‘Best I Ever Had’ just completely seemed to encompass what I was in the middle of,” says the artist who’s enjoyed back to back platinum albums.  “I thought it was a great song to put out while I got my act together.  It was very healing.”  Watch a sneak peek:

Other songs included in the special are the title track from his March 9 new release, Get Off On the Pain, “She’s So California,” “Nothing on But the Radio,” “Watching Airplanes,” and “Songs About Rain.”  It’s not just his feelings Allan shares with viewers, but also his love of body art.  His personal tattoo artist can be seen throughout the interview segments applying new ink to the growing collection of tattoos seen on both arms and rumored to be covering his back.  Watch the full “Tattoo Interview” now »

Allan has performed in front of more than one million fans in a year’s time.  “I like them a little out of control,” Allan says of his live shows.  “We’re a country band but there’s a lot of spontaneity.”
