Alan Jackson’s latest album Freight Train hit stores today.  The album features 12 brand new tracks including his current hit single “It’s Just That Way.”   Alan has writing credits for 8 of the songs on Freight Train, but it’s a classic song originally penned by Vern Gosdin that Alan says has been on his wish list for a long time.  “Till The End” is a song Alan has been kickin’ around for years, one that he always knew he wanted to record as a duet.  And, after several attempts through the years, Alan finally convinced Lee Ann Womack to cut it with him.

“It’s a cool song, one that I’ve always wanted to do a duet with somebody on, it’s a tribute to Vern Gosdin.  So to have Lee Ann on there really made it that much more special,”  Alan tells GAC host Suzanne Alexander during a recent interview on the GAC show On The Streets.

Check out an exclusive clip from the interview for more about his duet with Lee Ann and about how watching his oldest daughter head off to college inspired him to write “After 17,” the third track featured on Freight Train.

When asked about the title track Alan said, “It sounded different and just kind of stuck out.  I guess when you really think about it, man, we’ve been rolling along here for a lot of years, just going like a freight train.”

Alan’s “Freight Train Tour” will be rolling out in early April and the first stop is scheduled for April 8 in Ft. Meyers, Fla.  On board for the tour are Josh Turner and Chris Young.   For a complete list of tour dates and ticket information visit AlanJackson.com.
