Easton Corbin turned a rare trick this year when his debut single also became his first No. 1 hit, and he’ll make an appearance with host Nan Kelley on this weekend’s edition of GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown.

Easton topped the chart with “A Little More Country Than That,” which became the first debut by a male solo artist to go to No. 1 since Dierks Bentley did it in 2003. That puts Easton in some pretty good company. But so does his voice, which has been compared to George Strait. And his touring opportunities, which this summer include a stint on Brad Paisley’s H2O Tour.

Brad offered the concert slot to Easton personally, though the newcomer almost didn’t answer the phone when Brad called him.

“I didn’t recognize the number on there,” Easton notes. “I said ‘Hello’ and the phone kind of went out a little bit and I couldn’t hear. It’s one of things where you get a call on a cell phone and it doesn’t connect and takes a minute for the person to hear you, so I said ‘Hello…hello?’ and then he said, ‘Hi, this is Brad Paisley.’ And I said ‘Oh, hey there!’ He was the last person I expected to call me.”

“A Little More Country Than That” is still hanging in at No. 20 on the Top 20 Country Countdown. Meanwhile, Easton’s released his second single, “Roll With It,” which has already been on the Billboard Country Songs chart for two weeks.
