How sweet is this? Years after Luke Bryan left his Georgia home to try his hand at music in Nashville, his mom is paying him a visit on his new home turf just in time for her own red-letter day. Luke and LeClaire join host Nan Kelley for this weekend’s Mother’s Day edition of GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown. Watch this cute clip from the show:

It’s a pretty good time for Luke. His song, “Rain Is A Good Thing,” is at No. 14 on the Top 20 list, and just last month he claimed the Academy of Country Music’s New Artist of the Year trophy. Luke was a bit overwhelmed at the time, but so was his mom.

“I think I was hyperventilating,” LeClaire says. “When I heard the ‘L’ come out [of the presenter’s mouth], I fell over into the lap of the man seated next to me, breaking a toenail and scraping my hand!”

She might be proud of her son, but Luke is proud of his mom, too. And that’s part of the reason he brought her along to GAC for Mother’s Day weekend.

“The more you father a child, the more you can appreciate mothers,” says Luke, who’s a dad and has a second child on the way. “Now that I’m older, I can more clearly see the sacrifices mothers make.”
