Brad Paisley: Two Discs, One Album

Years ago, Dolly Parton laughed off the interior decorator mantra “less is more.”

More is more!” she insisted.

Apparently, Dolly’s “When I Get Where I’m Going” duet partner, Brad Paisley, is in complete agreement — at least when it comes to best-of albums. He’s planning to release his first greatest-hits package Nov. 2, and it’ll include two discs that knit a couple of ideas together. Hits Alive will have one CD of studio recordings and a second disc that features nothing but hits, all of them recorded live.

The first single from Hits Alive, “Anything Like Me,” was released to radio stations Monday. It also appeared on the American Saturday Night album, and it’s the fifth song from that project released as a single.

Brad co-hosted the Country Music Association Awards in November with Carrie Underwood each of the last two years, and on both occasions, he put out new product in the week leading up to the show. In 2008, he released his instrumental-themed album Play on Nov. 4, and last year he shipped “American Saturday Night” to radio as a single on Nov. 2.

Does the Hits Alive release date signify he’ll be back as host at the CMAs once again on Nov. 10? Thus far, nobody’s said a thing.
