Rascal Flatts recently strapped on their dancing shoes and stepped into the studio with R&B legend Lionel Richie to record Lionel’s 1986 hit, “Dancing on the Ceiling.” The collaboration is set to appear on Lionel’s duets album, due out later this year. The Flatts’ were nothing short of impressed by the legend and didn’t mind sharing their enthusiasm about meeting him.
“When he walks in the room, it’s like… Wow! It’s like kinetic energy,” said Joe Don Rooney. “It just is. You just can’t help but soak it up. This guy is so amazing. He has this huge personality, and it’s also very sweet and real and he’s just one of the greatest artists ever.”
“You just look and go… You’re a Commodore, man! You’re a Commo-dore,” Gary LeVox said. “You’re talking about a guy that was part of one of the biggest songs ever – “We are the World” – so that’s when your mouth kind of drops, and you go… Ahhhh.”
Rascal Flatts wrapped up their Nothing Like This Tour in Oklahoma City on Saturday night, the same night their first network television special aired on ABC.
