Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox Talks Makeup & Discipline

The men of Rascal Flatts are all fathers of daughters. While Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney’s girls are quite young, Gary LeVox’s two daughters, Brittany and Brooklyn, are 12 and 7 and he’s learning they grow up fast. “It just it goes so fast,” he said. “You miss that smell of a one year old, you know? Now it’s like, ‘Really, is that make-up? Really, you have make-up on? And someone told you that you were allowed to wear make-up?’”

Despite the makeup and growing up, Gary still thinks of them as his little girls. “Brittany and Brooklyn, they’re absolutely the joys of my life,” he says. “They make everything in life so much sweeter and there’s nothing like a daddy’s girl, there just isn’t,” he said. “I’m proud to be their father and they make me cry happy tears all the time.”

As Brittany and Brooklyn get older, disciplining them gets harder. When they were younger, time outs and being sent to their room worked. “Their punishments get tougher as they get older,” he said. “And it’s heartbreaking, because you hate to do anything. But that’s just the way it is. But they are truly the greatest gift that God’s ever given me.”

Family time is precious for Rascal Flatts right now, with their busy schedule. They’re finishing up their Thaw Out 2012 tour, planning their summer The American Band Tour and promoting their latest single, “Banjo,” which is the first single from their album Changed, due out April 3.
