The Band Perry took their show to Europe earlier this year and will have the chance to return for another set of shows in July. They’re excited about the trip as well as continuing to grow their fan base. “We’re just kind of getting to know the international community,” Kimberly Perry said. “That’s a big goal of ours this year — to begin to collect fans overseas.”
Fans in Europe are passionate about their country music, one of the things the band loves most about playing there. “It was such a fertile ground really for country music because they don’t have a ton of it over there,” Kimberly said. “They’re huge country fans. In some ways I feel like the genres lines are all blurred and they’re just into really good music.”
Kimberly has developed a theory as to why country music is loved so much in Europe. “I feel like a country song, [by] anybody coming out of our community in this town, is better than nine out of 10 songs on pop radio,” she said. “I just love the country songwriting craft and I feel like that’s really what speaks to those over in the UK.”
The Band Perry has five shows planned in Ireland and the UK in early July. While they won’t be sending a ‘postcard from Paris’ to their family back home, they may have time to put a note in the mail from London or Dublin during this visit.
