Scotty McCreery is returning to American Idol tonight and tomorrow for Season 11’s much-anticipated finale. Tonight, he will perform “Please Remember Me,” the Tim McGraw song he recorded as the season’s ‘goodbye song,’ which was played after an elimination as video highlights of the contestant’s time on Idol were shown. On Wednesday, he will help celebrate the winner.

“I am so excited about going back to American Idol and seeing everyone again,” Scotty said. “I hope to spend some time with the finalists, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez, and share some of my experiences with them. I can’t believe that it’s been a year since I was in their shoes.”

It’s been quite the year for Scotty too. He has a platinum debut album, two gold singles, and two new artist awards. He’s also nominated for two Teen Choice Awards, which will be held at the Gibson Amphitheater at Universal Studios in Los Angeles on July 22. “I am so grateful for all of my teen fans,” he said. “Since I’m still a teenager myself, their support has meant everything to me over the last year.”

This next year is looking to be a big one for Scotty as well. He has returned as a special guest on the second leg of Brad Paisley’s Virtual Reality Tour and will enter North Carolina State University as freshman this fall.
