Jerrod Niemann started performing at the age of 10, was nominated for ACM New Artist Of The Year after 10 years in the music business and signed autographs for 10 hours after his Fan Club Party during CMA Music Festival on June 4. He’ll keep his ‘10’ streak alive by releasing his sophomore album in the 10th month. Free The Music will hit stores October 2.

Free The Music is an album where I wanted to do just that,” Jerrod said. “It’s a project honoring many different layers and colors that have appeared in the country genre since recorded music began.” Fans can pre-order the album on Amazon now.

It took Jerrod two years to record Free The Music as he focused on recording the album from a non-traditional standpoint. He used brasswind horns throughout the record and had his live band play on the tracks instead of hiring studio musicians. He also used a recording technique called The Clasp during the production of each song.

Jerrod once again worked with producer Dave Brainard on the project. Jerrod co-wrote the album’s first single, “Shinin’ On Me,” with his friends Lee Brice, Rob Hatch and Lance Miller. Colbie Caillat appears on the record as a guest vocalist on the ballad “All About You.”

Jerrod teamed up with Lee Brice to kick off CMA Music Festival with a Fan Club Party to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Nearly 400 fans came out to show their support and Lee and Jerrod stayed to sign autographs for each and every person. Jerrod’s longtime fan Drena Knorr celebrated her birthday at the party.

“I appreciate the fact that they’re taking time to spend with everyone,” she said. “That’s one of both artists’ best qualities. It’s been a really long day. All I want to do for my birthday is meet Jerrod and Lee.” Drena waited in line from 1:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. to meet them.

Fans can also catch Jerrod today, June 7 on SirusXM’s The Highway where he’ll serve as co-host with Storme Warren and perform songs from Free The Music. He is currently on tour with Miranda Lambert and will set out on his own fairs and festival tours later this fall.
