Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw’s Brothers of the Sun Tour played for a sellout crowd of more than 53,000 in Pittsburgh over the weekend. This marked Kenny’s sixth time to play for a sold out crowd at Heinz Field and in recognition of the feat, the Rooney family, owners of the Pittsburgh Steelers, presented Kenny with a cast iron Six For Six plaque to commemorate both his six sold shows and the Steelers six Super Bowls Championships.

“I believe this might be the best gift I’ve ever gotten on the road,” Kenny said. “It epitomizes all the heart and energy and passion that this crowd has, that this town has.”

Since his first visit to Heinz Field in 2005, Kenny has sold more than 300,000 tickets there. Besides the plaque, Kenny was given a Steelers helmet signed by former Pittsburgh Super Bowl MVP and Hall Of Famer, Franco Harris.

“Every once and a while you get a crowd that’s just special, and you feel the night begin to turn,” Kenny told the crowd during the show. “All of the sudden, the stadium becomes a club.” Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, Dan Marino of the Miami Dolphins and Jim Kelly of the Buffalo Bills were a few of the special guests hanging out with Kenny backstage.

The Brothers of the Sun Tour is approaching the halfway mark in the 22 city, all-stadium tour with nearly a million tickets sold already. Kenny released his latest album, Welcome To The Fishbowl, June 19. His current single, “Come Over,” is already one of the fastest-rising songs of his career.
