Keith Urban spends a lot of time traveling both across the United States and abroad, but the Australia native calls Nashville home at the end of the day. He’s on the cover of American Airlines’ American Way Magazine this month, sharing his favorite places to eat and catch live music around Music City.

“I loved going to the meat-and-three joints, for funky, earthy food,” Keith said of his favorite places to eat around Nashville. “A lot of those are still around like Brown’s Diner, Rotier’s Restaurant and Jacks Bar-B-Que. If you want something that’s unique to Nashville, those are some of the places to go.”

Known for his musicianship, especially his guitar skills, it’s only natural that Keith likes to check out live music while he’s home. He listed 12th & Porter and Exit/In, both Nashville staples for more than 25 years, as some of his favorite places to go. “A lot of the places that I went early on to hear live music are still there!” he said.

Even though both he and wife Nicole Kidman were born and raised in Australia, Nashville is where they chose to make their home with their two young girls. ‘This is a real family-oriented place,” he said. “There’s a lot of focus on family, which suits us perfectly.”

If you’re planning a trip to Nashville soon, take Keith’s tips to heart, but be sure to visit our Nashville Travel Guide for more tips as stars like Jake Owen, Carrie Underwood, Josh Turner, Rascal Flatts, Dierks Bentley and more share their favorite places in Nashville.
