George Jones will bid the road farewell in 2013 with a final tour for his fans. Named ‘The Grand Tour,’ George will stop in approximately 60 cities next year. After more than 50 years of touring, he has decided to slow down and spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
“It is tough to stop doing what I love, but the time has come,” George said. He will perform many of his hits, including “White Lightning,” “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes” and “I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair” as well as his legendary tune, “He Stopped Loving Her Today.”
George also plans to record a new studio album. Dolly Parton has been writing songs for him and the project will be an album he both loves and wants to do. There is no release date scheduled at this time.
After being forced to cancel a number of shoes earlier this year due to an upper respiratory infection, George has resumed his tour schedule for 2012. Fans can visit www.georgejones.com for a complete list of dates.
