Reba McEntire Passes the ACM Awards Torch to Blake Shelton

Reba McEntire & Blake Shelton

Reba McEntire announced she won't return as ACM Awards co-host for 2013.

Country Weekly reports that after hosting the ACM Awards 14 times, Reba McEntire announced she won’t be back as host next year. For the past two years, she’s co-hosted with Blake Shelton.

“[I’ve] passed the torch to Blake,” Reba told the magazine. “I’m a huge Blake Shelton fan.”

The ACM released this statement:

“Reba has hosted the ACM Awards a record 14 times since 1986, and we fully understand and support her decision to focus her energies on her new television project,” said Bob Romeo, CEO of the Academy of Country Music. “We’ve known about this for a while and have something very special planned with Blake returning—he’s got something big up his sleeve!—that we’ll be announcing soon. Stay tuned!”
