Country Stars Share Their George Strait Memories

George Strait

George Strait at the Country Music Hall of Fame, September 25, 2012, announcing his final tour.

George Strait announced Wednesday that his new tour, The Cowboy Rides Away Tour, will be his last big stretch of dates. A true legend, George has inspired many of today’s country artists. To pay tribute to King George, many of them recorded their favorite memories of George or shared what he means to them for a special video testimonial.

Taylor Swift recalled the time George surprised her by showing up for her show at the San Antonio Rodeo, one of the first shows she played as a headliner after spending a year touring with him as a special guest. Dierks Bentley also recalled his time touring with George in the beginning of his career. Kenny Chesney and Ronnie Dunn both shared how much they wanted – and still want! – to be like George Strait, while Reba McEntire and Tim McGraw reveal a little about George’s partying side, including how he looks in wigs!
