Dolly Parton has announced she will no longer be part of a previously planned water park in Nashville. Dolly’s Dollywood Company and Gaylord Entertainment had entered into a 50/50 venture to develop a 114-acre family entertainment zone adjacent to the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, with the Dollywood Company serving as the operating partner.

“Gaylord makes decisions that they feel are good for their company and their stockholders and I have to make decisions based on what is best for me and the Dollywood Company,” Dolly said. “Governor Haslam, Mayor Dean, and all the folks in government have been great to work with. I really appreciate their support through this process.”

Last week, Gaylord Entertainment stockholders agreed to sell day-to-day operations to Marriott International, reports the Nashville Business Journal. Dolly hopes the work she’s been involved with up to this point doesn’t go to waste however. “I think everyone knows I love Nashville,” she said. “I hope the work we’ve already done will spark more family entertainment in Nashville.”

Dolly’s next project, a book called Dream More, will be released this fall.
