Charlie Daniels and his wife Hazel along with The Nashville Palm will host “Charlie Daniels Scholarships for Heroes” on October 9. The charity event will benefit Sentinels of Freedom and veteran students of Lipscomb University. They will be joined by Sal Gonzales and Aaron Lewis.

GAC’s Storme Warren will emcee the event, which starts at 6 p.m. with a VIP cocktail reception. Doors will open and a silent auction will begin at 6:30 p.m.  The Palm will serve its signature “Surf & Turf” dinner at 7 p.m., followed by the program and live auction at 8 p.m.  Live art by Randall Hedden will be among the unique items featured.

Special guest Mark Green MD FACEP will be honored during evening. After graduating from West Point, he served as an infantry officer, eventually commanding a rifle company in the 82nd Airborne Division. He is a recipient of the Bronze Star, The Air Medal with “V” device for Valor, The Air Medal, and the Combat Medical Badge. He is the author of A Night with Saddam,  a Special Ops Flight Surgeon’s interview with Saddam Hussein on the night of his capture.
