As one country star leaves Las Vegas, three more are coming to town, reports the Las Vegas Sun. Garth Brooks will end his three-year run of Garth in Encore Theater at the Wynn on Saturday, November 17. His run began in December 2009 with hotel tycoon Steve Wynn giving him a jet to fly back and forth from his Oklahoma ranch in order to be home with his daughters.
“Steve Wynn is one of the smartest guys I have ever had the pleasure of talking to or listening to,” Garth said. “He does everything top notch and is the easiest and best boss I have ever worked for. I just love him. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Wynn. He told me the Wynn audiences were some of the best in the world, and he was right.”
“I have always thought of Garth as a brother, and this will always be a home for him,” Steve Wynn said. “I’ve never stopped being amazed at his talent, nor have I ever stopped admiring the wonderful balance that he has maintained as a father and a superstar. He is to me the rarest of all combinations: incredibly gifted and a man of great character.”
During his run, Garth’s wife Trisha Yearwood made regular appearances. She’s expected to take the stage for the final performance as well. There are rumors that Garth will be back at the Wynn next summer to film his show for a TV special. He has also hinted he may announce a tour.
Just days after Garth wraps his residency, Shania Twain will start her two-year residency at the Colosseum on December 1. Before that, she will stop traffic on “The Strip” November 14 when she makes her Grand Entrance at the strip-front fountains of Caesars Palace. Shania has been told to look under the glass in the dressing room because fellow headliner Celine Dion has left her a welcome note.
