Brantley Gilbert has topped the charts as an artist but before “Country Must Be Country Wide” and “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do” reached No. 1, he was topping the charts as a songwriter, penning two of Jason Aldean’s recent hits. These days, he’s focused on writing songs for his own career and admits he’s become a little greedy.
“It just depends on the song,” he said. “I think if it’s something that I’m gonna need for my record then I’ll hide it, of course. I’m a little bit more stingy now with that being said.”
Even though his name might be attached to a song as the writer, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s right for him. “I’ve got a lot of them that I’ve written throughout the years that probably won’t ever fit in an album of mine,” he said, “It might be helpful for somebody else. You know, there’s hopes on both sides of the fence there.”
Brantley’s latest single, “More Than Miles,” is now at radio.
