Tim McGraw has won his fair share of awards over the years. Most recently, he and Kenny Chesney were honored with the CMA Award for Musical Event of the Year for their hit “Feel like Rock Star.” Tim is nominated for two American Country Awards this month and over the years, has learned awards mean more to an overall career than to an individual person.
“I think (awards) mean more to your career when you step outside of you being you — and it all being about me,” he said. “If you’re looking at it like you’re a business person and you’re looking at this product that you have, then that’s a very sort of a cold and calculated way to look at it. But the awards probably mean more to your career than they actually do mean to you as an artist or as a person, if that makes any sense.”
He’s not shy about admitting that he does enjoy picking up a trophy, though. “If you’re in this business you have some sort of ego, so you like getting awards,” he said. “Everybody likes to win awards.”
Tim’s new single, “One of Those Nights,” is at radio now and will be featured on his new album, Two Lanes of Freedom, out February 5, 2013. Tim and wife Faith Hill will make their debut at the Venetian in Las Vegas on December 7 with 10 performances scheduled through April 2013.
