Jason Aldean also picked up a major award. Fans named him Touring Artist of the Year. “I couldn’t win an award that means more to me than for something that has to do with touring,” Jason said. “That to me is what I’ve really tried to build my career around. I’ve tried to go out every year and make it bigger and better and hoped that you guys would show up and you have. You guys have not let us down.”

Carrie Underwood was another big winner of the night, being voted Female Vocalist of the Year. “I know that I am one of the luckiest people, most blessed people,” Carrie said. “We’ve had such an incredible year being on the road. Co-hosts Trace Adkins and Kristin Chenoweth brought the funny, poking fun at their obvious height difference. The pair took the stage with Kristin strapped into a baby swaddle wrapped around Trace. The swaddle was later presented to Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott who announced she’s expecting a baby last week. Kristin even donned a Honey Boo Boo costume, complete with ‘go-go juice’ as she and Trace entertained between performances.

On the performance front, Keith Urban was backed by kids from the GRAMMY Camp, several of whom could almost match his guitar skills note for note, for a cover of  “Crossroads.” Other notable performances included Trace Adkins partnering with Lynyrd Skynyrd for “What’s Your Name?,” Kip Moore’s award show debut with a medley of “Beer Money” and “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck” and Little Big Town’s “Tornado.”

If you missed the live broadcast of the American Country Awards, GAC will re-air the show on December 26 at 9p|8c. Check the schedule for more airtimes >>
