2012 Rewind: No. 10 – Country Marriages & Babies

Weddings bells rang and storks delivered for a number of country stars in 2012. Jake Owen married Lacey Buchanan in a small ceremony on the beach at sunrise on May 7. On Thanksgiving Day, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, Olive Pearl.

“Lacey and I are so excited to start our own family,” Jake said after Olive Pearl’s arrival. “We are looking forward to teaching Pearl everything we learned from our parents and also learning from her.”

Wynonna Judd and Cactus Moser tied the knot in a small ceremony on Wynonna’s farm in Tennessee on June 10. Two months later, Cactus was involved in a motorcycle accident that resulted in his leg being amputated. Wynonna canceled tour dates to remain by his side.

“The outpouring of prayer and support from friends, family and fans has been a blessing to both Cactus and I,” she said in the days after the accident. “Cactus is a champion. I love him deeply and I will not leave his side.” The pair have since resumed touring.

Hillary Scott, Chris Tyrell

Lady Antebellum also had their share of weddings. Hillary Scott married Chris Tyrell on January 7 in a surprise ceremony held in upstate New York. The couple recently announced they are expecting their first child in 2013. Fellow Lady A member Dave Haywood married Kelli Cashiola on April 14 in a sunset ceremony on a farm in Tennessee.

Hannah Blaylock of Edens Edge married longtime boyfriend Justin Wakefield September 30 and on October 12, Thomas Rhett married his high school sweetheart, Lauren Gregory. Angaleena Presley of Pistol Annies also tied the knot, marrying Jordan Powell in a ceremony in Wyoming May 22.

On the baby front, Joe Nichols and wife Heather welcomed their first child, daughter Dylan River, on April 17. The pair opened up about suffering through five miscarriages and their struggle to have a child during an appearance on The View. Their journey is also chronicled on Heather’s blog,

“Our prayers have been answered,” Heather said after Dylan’s birth. “We went through years of loss and heartbreak to get to this point and now our little baby girl is here. I want to thank everyone for their well wishes, thoughts and prayers and our doctors and nurses who have walked along side us in this process. I know that we are going to love this little girl, and I am so thankful that she is ours.”

Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles and husband Justin Miller also welcomed their first child, son Magnus Hamilton Miller, born December 6. “We are so thankful for all the prayers and support and are excited to take some time together as a new family,” Jennifer wrote on Facebook following the baby’s birth. Eli Young Band’s Mike Eli and wife Kacy had their first child, daughter Kline Olivia Diaz, July 30 and Randy Houser and wife Jessa Lee also became first time parents when son West Yantz entered the world March 6.

2013 is already shaping up to be another  year of country marriages and babies. In addition to Hillary Scott’s baby news, Eli Young Band’s Jon Jones and Love and Theft’s Eric Gunderson will also become first time fathers in the new year. Lee Brice is engaged to marry Sara Reeveley and Kelly Clarkson is set to marry Brandon Blackstock, Reba’s stepson.
