The Americana Music Association has announced the Top 10 and top 100 Albums of the Year. The Top 100 albums are based on records reported to the Americana Airplay Chart between November 15, 2011 and November 17, 2012.
JD McPherson’s Signs and Signifiers comes in at No. 1 for the year with Darrell Scott’s Long Ride Home, KIN: Songs By Mary Karr & Rodney Crowell by Rodney Crowell, Justin Townes Earle’s Nothing’s Gonna Change The Way… and the Little Willies’ For The Good Times rounding out the Top 5.
Willie Nelson’s Heroes album came in at No. 6 with Lyle Lovett’s Release Me at No. 7. The Grifter’s Hymnal by Ray Wylie Hubbard, Old Crow Medicine Show’s Carry Me Back and Ryan Adam’s Ashes & Fire finish off the Top 10.
Other notable names on the Top 100 list include The Lumineers, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Punch Brothers, Alabama Shakes, Dwight Yoakam, Reckless Kelly, Corb Lund, Hank Williams III, Sons of Bill, The Mavericks, Mumford & Sons, Infamous String Dusters and Merle Haggard.
