Taylor Swift knows that with super stardom comes tabloids and paparazzi documenting vacations, shopping trips and of course, her love life. She insists that if fans really want to know what’s going on with her, they should listen to her music. Her latest album, Red, chronicles her last couple of years.

“I think that this album is a definite snapshot of who I was at 21 and 22,” she said. “Because these songs were written over the course of two years and they’re very vivid.”

Part of what makes Taylor a great songwriter is her ability to weave details into her lyrics that put listeners in the moment with her. “I really like to paint a picture with my lyrics and I like it to be really vivid,” she said. “And I like for people to be able to picture what I was going through, what the room looked like, how the feeling affected me, what I would compare it to.”

Taylor recently became the only female artist in history to have three consecutive albums – Red, Speak Now and Fearless - spend six or more weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 Albums chart. The last act to achieve that milestone was The Beatles.
