Before Little Big Town heard their name called as the winners of the GRAMMY Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Pontoon,” the foursome was just excited to be there. Kimberly Schlapman was especially thrilled about her wardrobe, while Phillip Sweet was looking forward to the music.

“It’s great people watching,” he said. “It’s always great to see all the different mix of genres from world music to pop to country – it’s all in there.”

The GRAMMY was the band’s first win but their fifth nomination. Phillip wasn’t shy about saying they wanted to win the trophy beforehand. “This time we want to take it home,” he said before the pre-telecast ceremony. “We want to ride that motorboatin’ boat all the way home with an award in our hands.”

Little Big Town will go motorboatin’ all the way to CBS’ The Late Show with David Letterman tonight. The group will perform their current hit “Tornado,” which is in the Top 10 at radio this week. They just kicked off their Tornado Tour and will join Keith Urban’s tour later this summer.
