Tim McGraw kicked off his Two Lanes of Freedom Tour Thursday night in Birmingham, Alabama. The tour will stop in more than 30 cities through July and features Brantley Gilbert and Love and Theft as special guests. Tim will also continue his HomeFront program to award mortgage-free homes to veterans in need at each tour stop.
“With every tour we put together we focus on making it new and exciting for the fans,” Tim said. “All the production bells and whistles are nice and we’ll certainly have all those, but this tour is all about smacking you in the face with a huge sound and great songs and giving you an unforgettable night of music.”
Tim spent a lot of time in the planning stages for his tour but there is one aspect of the show that gave him some trouble. “Making the set list is always the toughest part for me because we want to give the fans the hits, and we also want to keep it fresh and play some new songs that they’ve never heard live before,” he said.
Fresh off a three week No. 1 hit, Tim recently released “Highway Don’t Care” with Taylor Swift, featuring Keith Urban on guitar, as his follow up single. He will appear on Katie on May 3 to discuss his summer tour and go behind the scenes of his upcoming TV special, ACM Presents: Tim McGraw’s Superstar Summer Night.
