Blake Shelton, and NBC are in the process of organizing a benefit concert for the victims of the Moore, Oklahoma tornado that left thousands homeless and killed at least 24 people on Monday, reports Billboard. Blake, a native of Ada, Oklahoma, located about 75 miles south of Moore, revealed the news following Tuesday’s episode of The Voice.
“We’ll know more about it in the next 24 hours,” Blake said. “I’m hoping it will raise a lot of money. Obviously it will be televised and will happen really quickly.”
Blake is planning to bring in some of his superstar friends from across music. He pointed to fellow The Voice coach Usher and told Billboard, “I can call in some really big favors.”
Blake and wife Miranda Lambert opened Tuesday’s The Voice with a performance of “Over You,” a track the pair wrote about Blake’s older brother being killed in a car accident. “I think it was the perfect song for this situation,” Blake said. “The moment was right and I wish things would’ve been different and I wouldn’t have been thinking about performing a song like that.”
