Jo Dee Messina has announced her Kickstarter campaign called “My time. Our Music.” The fan-funded album will allow her fans to be involved from the beginning. Grateful for her previous record label’s support over the years, she’s looking forward to making the record she wants.

“Now that I have the ability to make any record I want, I’d like to take a different route,” she said. “I want to give the public a chance to be heard. This time I want to make a record WITH you, in addition to making one FOR you. Kickstarter is the perfect platform. It allows me to change the way things have traditionally been done in my career for years. It’s totally exciting!”

Those who back Jo Dee’s album will be involved with every step that goes into creating and recording the album, including exclusive content and one-of-a-kind opportunities. A $100,000 goal has been set to fund studio time, musicians, engineers, engineer assistants, production assistants, background vocalists, lead vocal recording days, overdubs, recording, mixing, mastering and more. In order to succeed, the goal must be reached within 30 days.

Jo Dee’s fans have already been involved in the creative process by influencing which songs make it onto the album through their input at live shows, Facebook and Twitter comments or Stageit reviews. Fans will also have the chance to vote on album artwork and even submit original pieces for consideration.

“This album is truly for you, the people who appreciate the creative process, as well as my amazing fans,” Jo Dee said. “There’s no question, I wouldn’t be where I am today without your love and support. You’ve been with me since the beginning, and I’m in need of your support now more than ever. This album is a fresh start for me, and I want us to go on this exciting journey together.”
