Country Stars Look Forward to CMA Music Festival

CMA Music Festival

CMA Music Festival 2013

CMA Music Festival is set for this week, June 6-9, in Nashville. Fans look forward to country’s biggest festival all year long but they aren’t the only ones. Country stars look forward to it too.

“Music Fest is like nothing else,” Darius Rucker said. “I say all the time that country music is the only genre that could have something like that. It’s truly amazing, when I come that weekend, people are everywhere and they want to be your best friend. It’s always cool and I love coming here.”

Dierks Bentley agrees. He enjoys getting to spend time with his fans, some of which he’s known for a long time. There is one woman he sees often who is such a superfan, even his dog, Jake, has a permanent spot inked onto her body.

“I know a lot of the early fans by name, because we played a lot of shows at a lot of small venues where we’d be around a lot after the shows,” Dierks said. “I’m not gonna say her name ‘cause I don’t know if she’d want me to or not, but she has a dog print of Jake on her shoulder with my name in the middle of the tattoo.”

Eric Church loves what CMA Music Festival says about country music. It gives the genre a chance to shine while also giving the fans the chance to get up close and personal with several of their favorite stars.

“It’s a neat thing,” he said. “It’s unique to country music. If you look around at the other formats, they don’t have this. I think just to have that and to be able to see ‘em, and see the same people every day, and some people schedule their entire year, vacation time and save up money to come and do this. To have people do that for country music – not just me personally – but country music, it’s a really, really cool thing.”
