Sarah Darling will receive The National Association for Music Education’s “Stand for Music” Award on June 29 in Washington, D.C. The award, given in recognition of Sarah’s dedication to and support of music education, will be presented to Sarah by NAfME’s President and Board Chair Nancy Ditmer at the association’s National Leadership event.
“Sarah epitomizes the type of artist who truly understands the importance of music education,” NAfME’s executive director Michael A. Butera said. “Her formal music training started at a young age while growing up in Mitchellville, Iowa, and her dedication to the craft of songwriting in particular has brought her significant recognition in the country music industry and beyond. NAfME is pleased to present Sarah with our ‘Stand for Music’ award for 2013.”
While in DC, Sarah will meet with legislative representatives and staff members from Tennessee and her homestate of Iowa to discuss the importance of preserving music education in public schools. She will also perform later for NAfME state affiliate leaders at an acoustic concert.
Sarah’s latest single, “Little Umbrellas,” is now available for download on iTunes.
