Thomas Rhett could have shot his eye out. Growing up, he and his buddies were a bit mischievous on the Fourth of July.

“We used to have bottle rocket wars in our backyard and we would all get in tree houses and shoot bottle rockets at [each other],” he said. “Looking back, we could all be blind by now with all the bottle rockets we shot at each other.”

Luckily, no one was seriously harmed during their bottle rocket wars. Another favorite Fourth of July memory involved getting a deal on fireworks. “I never really worked the firework tent,” he said. “But a lot of my buddies used to work firework tents so I’d always go get discounts.”

Thomas’ latest single, “It Goes Like This,” is at radio now. Watch the video here.
