Fans can expect some surprises on Justin Moore’s new album, Off The Beaten Path, set for release on September 17. He worked with several new co-writers on the project and by including 16 new tracks, he was able to experiment with his sound.
“It’s not gonna sound pop or it’s not gonna be anything that can cross over,” he said. “There’s some songs that I cut on this album that I don’t think earlier in my career I would have. I’m excited about it. Hopefully it’ll be good. There’s some stuff on there even I was going, ‘Uh. Really? You think I can do this?’”
His longtime fans shouldn’t worry about him straying too far from his roots though. There will be plenty of songs on Off The Beaten Path with his familiar sound. Justin wanted to push his comfort zone with his new music to further his career.
“With the format the way it is, you have to continue to evolve as an artist,” he said. “I’d love nothing more than to cut an album that sounded like Mark Chesnutt in 1994. I’m not very smart but I’m smart enough to know that I don’t know if I can get that played on the radio. It’s exciting for me to go out and try some different things. As an artist, it’s kinda fun.”
