Jo Dee Messina has put her new music directly in the hands of fans, first with their generous financial backing of her new album through Kickstarter and then by letting fans vote on which song they’d like to be the album’s first single. In 10 days, she received over 220,000 impressions with the winning vote going to “Peace Sign.”
“This song is a blast,” Jo Dee said. “The first weekend we carried the “Peace Sign” t-shirts, we sold out in two shows. It’s definitely a fan favorite.”
Jo Dee produced the song, which was written by Amy Dalley, Scott Ledger and Tyler Hayes. It will officially be released to radio on August 23. After the success of her kickstarter campaign — which exceeded her goal of more than $100,000 — Jo Dee called her fan support a testament to the possibilities of an artist/fan collaboration.
“The people are the ones that make music possible,” she said. “They are the ones that come to the shows, request the songs, and get the records. When I first started the campaign, many folks didn’t get it. The ones that took the time to learn about it, got that this project is something we are all doing together. Once again the fans have shown their love and loyalty. I am truly grateful.”
More news on the album release will be revealed soon.
