Tim McGraw has his dream job now, making music and touring the country to play for his fans. But it wasn’t always spotlights and No. 1 singles. Before he broke onto the music scene, he was picking tomatoes in Louisiana, which he calls the worst job he’s ever had.
“I had a lot of bad jobs,” he said. “Pulling coffee weeds in rice fields is not a good job either, especially with water moccasins in the river. [But] picking tomatoes, that’s a pretty nasty job.”
Laura Bell Bundy has been fortunate enough to make a living most of her life doing what she loves – acting and singing. But she has taken the occasional odd job to make ends meet.
“I’ve been a bartender and I’ve been a hostess and I’ve been a coat check girl,” she said. “I’ve done sales before. I did real estate, living in New York, trying to make ends meet. That was pretty funny. I don’t think it was horrible, but it was funny.”
Tim and Laura Bell won’t be picking tomatoes or selling real estate anytime soon. Tim’s latest single, “Southern Girl,” is climbing the charts and he and Faith Hill will return to Las Vegas for an encore run of their Soul2Soul show. Laura Bell is performing her new single, “Two Step,” on the road with Rascal Flatts and has landed roles on both Anger Management and Hart of Dixie.
